Privacy Policy
Last updated: [To confirm: effective date]
Strokes Lost OS is operated by One Percent Golf Club LLC ("we," "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Strokes Lost OS app and website, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
Information you give us
- Account information: your name, email address, and password if you sign up with email. If you choose Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. In the iOS app you can also choose Sign in with Apple. Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real email.
- Profile: an optional profile photo and optional details you add to your profile.
- Golf and practice records: rounds you log (date, course, tee, scores, hole-by-hole results, penalties, and your own ratings of conditions, strategy, and mindset), notes you write, practice sessions, goals, and challenges.
- Coach conversations: the messages you send to the in-app AI coach and the replies it gives you.
- Playing Partners: groups you create or join, invitations, challenges, and group activity.
- Feedback and reports: messages and any attachment you send through in-app feedback, and any reports you file about content or another user.
Information created as you use the app
- Analysis: the strokes-lost estimates, debriefs, practice plans, and game plans that the app generates from your records.
- Usage information: the screens you open and certain actions (for example, sending a group invite or sharing a card), recorded through our backend provider's analytics. We use this to understand how the app is used and to fix problems. We do not use it for advertising.
- Purchase information: if you subscribe, Apple tells us which plan you bought, the transaction and renewal status, and an anonymous account token that links the purchase to your account. We do not receive your payment card details.
- Technical information: as with most online services, our providers' servers receive your IP address, device and browser type, and request logs when the app connects to them.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, health information, or advertising identifier in this version of the app, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use information
- To provide the app: store your rounds and practice, calculate estimates, and show your history.
- To provide AI coaching features you choose to use (see "AI features").
- To run Playing Partners features you choose to join.
- To process and verify subscriptions and restore purchases.
- To limit use of paid features (for example, daily AI limits) and to prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- To answer support requests and feedback, and to send service messages about your account.
- To improve the app, using usage information and feedback.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms.
AI features
Some features send information to an AI service to generate a response. They include the Coach chat, the round debrief, practice feedback, practice and game plans, round comparisons, warm-up suggestions, and Help answers. We ask for your permission before your information is first sent to an AI service, and you can turn this off at any time in Settings. Features that do not need AI keep working when it is off.
When you use these features, we send the relevant parts of your golf and practice records, any notes you have written, and your chat messages. Anything you type, including names or personal details, may be included. We do not add your name or email to the request automatically.
The AI services we use are:
- OpenAI, for Coach chat and Game Plan. We send these requests with OpenAI's storage option turned off.
- Base44's AI service, for the other AI features. Base44 sends these requests to one of its model providers, which may include Anthropic, Google, or OpenAI.
AI responses can be incomplete or wrong. They are not professional, medical, or rules advice.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only as follows:
- Service providers that process data for us under contract: Base44 (hosting, database, file storage, sign-in, email delivery, analytics, AI routing); OpenAI (AI coaching); GolfCourseAPI (course search, which receives only your search text); and Google Fonts (font delivery, which receives your IP address).
- Sign-in providers: Google, when you choose it on the website or in the iOS app. Apple, when you choose Sign in with Apple in the iOS app. Their own privacy policies apply to the information they hold.
- Apple, which processes subscription payments. Apple's privacy policy applies to payment information.
- Other users, at your direction: when you join a Playing Partners group, its members can see your name, email address, and profile photo. Your stats are shared with the group only if you turn on stats sharing for that group; it starts off. If you allow it in Settings, other users can find you by name to invite you. Turning sharing off does not recall anything someone has already seen or copied.
- Share cards: cards are created on your device. They go only where you send them through your phone's share sheet.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, or us.
- Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
Retention
We keep your account information and records while your account is active. [To confirm: retention periods for each category of data.]
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app: open Settings and choose Delete my account. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, rounds, practice records, coach conversations, uploaded photos and files, and your sign-in. We may keep limited records where the law requires it or for legitimate business purposes, such as purchase and tax records and records of abuse reports.
Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel it in your Apple account settings (apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions) to stop future charges.
Uninstalling the app does not delete your account. If you cannot use in-app deletion, contact us at info@1percentgolf.com.
Your choices and rights
- AI permission: turn it off in Settings. Already-generated results are kept until you delete them or your account.
- Group sharing: turn stats sharing on or off per group, and leave groups.
- Discoverability: control whether others can find you by name.
- Access, correction, and deletion: you can view and edit most records in the app. You can ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it, at the contact below.
- State privacy rights: depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law.
Children and minimum age
Strokes Lost OS is intended only for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we do not direct the app to children. If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account, we will close it and delete its personal information. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us.
Security
We use measures designed to protect your information: encrypted connections, sign-in tokens stored in the iOS Keychain, server-side permission checks, and owner-only access rules on your records. No system is perfectly secure.
Where data is processed
Strokes Lost OS is offered only in the United States. We are based in the United States, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries.
Changes
We will post changes here and update the date above. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
